RED SEA (Aug. 25, 2019) Logistics Specialist 1st Class John Martin, assigned to Amphibious Squadron (CPR) 5, selected to become a chief petty officer, stands as the assistant battle watch captain inside the joint operations center aboard amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) during exercise Eager Lion 2019. Eager Lion, U.S. Central Command’s largest and most complex exercise, is an opportunity to integrate forces in a multilateral environment, operate in realistic terrain and strengthen military-to-military relationships. Boxer is part of the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
